ONLINE LEARNING SERIES

Re-authoring Teaching, The Taos Institute (TI) and Alliant International University are currently building an Online Learning Series to bridge and build dialogue between narrative therapy, social construction, and postmodern practice in the field of human and social inquiry. Over the last six months, we've been busy enhancing multi-media features while developing online Learning Modules, Webinars and courses. The first online offerings are now scheduled to begin in September, 2012. We will post updates on The Taos Institute and Reauthoring Teaching websites.

Multi-media Resources: Together, we can create a tapestry with the rich texture of our different languages. We are currently trying out voice recordings including the opportunity to send a recording by iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

An array of online resources: We are currently developing three streams of online materials, sponsored by 1) Reauthoring Teaching, 2) The Taos Institute, and 3) Collaborative Projects. Each includes "Open Access" commitment-lite material freely available to everyone. We are also producing courses, which have a beginning, middle and end — and offer access to instructors with noted expertise. Courses represent more of a commitment and usually involve a registration fee. They may also carry Continuing Ed or Academic credit hours. All the different modalities being developed here are our working response to the question, “How might we creatively use our digital skills and knowledge to facilitate more exchange between narrative and constructionist approaches?”

Collaborative Projects:

Collaborative Projects are courses co-sponsored by both Re-authoring Teaching and The Taos Institute. Honoring Our Legacy is our first joint collaborative project in our co-sponsored Learning Series. We believe the best tribute we can give our mentors is to gather evidence that their ideas and practices have gained lives of their own even for people who never knew them. We will highlight specific contributions, in text and recordings, by five cherished family therapist mentors including Tom Andersen, Gianfranco Cecchin, Harry Goolishian, Lynn Hoffman and Michael White. The second course in our collaborative learning series, Ethical Considerations brings together an invigorating and provocative range of materials addressing ethical considerations and dilemmas in our work as practitioners. Topics include a relational ethic of practice, professional responsibilities, ethics-based practice, privileging the client’s point-of-view, power and accountability.

The Reauthoring Teaching Learning Series:

The Re-authoring Teaching Learning Series includes open access materials, and courses ranging from "Foundations and key concepts" to Extending Narrative Practice. All of our materials draw from the best of teaching experiences and everyday practices of Maggie Carey, Rob Hall, Shona Russell (Narrative Practices Adelaide) - and other esteemed narrative practitioners. We aim for our first offerings to be available in September, 2012. In the meantime, please be sure to check out our David Epston web-page. Here, we are currently experimenting with using both text and voice recordings. Please help us try out our voice recordings including the opportunity to send a recording by iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Together, we can create a tapestry with the rich texture of our different languages.

The Taos Institute Learning Series:

The Taos Institute Online Learning Series begins with two Learning Modules a) Social Construction and b) Relational Practices, which will soon become building blocks for other upcoming online courses. Sheila McNamee and Ken Gergen are combining their best teaching knowledge and skill to co-construct an overview of key concepts in constructionist philosophy and practice, orientation to Taos Institute Global resources, and applications in a range of practice contexts.
